Drink Our Hi-G

A Loose Leaf Tea Company

Founder/Owner/Leader: Ludmilla Wikkeling Scott

This makes it to one of my favorites of all the items. I was originally drawn in by the Butterfly Pea tea, but a crazy, random event made for an extraordinary story here.

We knew that a number of our family members and friends were tea drinkers, some of them making a particular effort to stay away from caffeine. And so, we knew that teas were going to feature prominently in the gifts. We came across some information about Butterfly Pea tea that seemed intriguing and so began looking for some teas that used this flower. Drink Our Hi-G was one such company.

After ordering a bit of the tea, I began to worry when it seemed like it should have arrived. (This was an early order and so I hadn't yet gotten clued in to the fact that mail was not moving quickly!) I reached out to the company to inquire and got an immediate response. I asked a follow up question after realizing that I had mistyped my zip code on the order. I left my phone number, but didn't really expect anything to come of that except maybe another friendly email after a day or so.

I was quite surprised to get an immediate call from the owner, Ludmilla Wikkelling Scott ... early on a Sunday morning, no less. In the process of us talking, we uncovered a number of coincidences--prior to starting her tea business, she had been an academic, teaching in public health. We talked some about that, and I heard about her shift away from academia into the tea business. (See more about that at the LinkedIn article below.)

The fact that we both had roots in academia was not the biggest coincidence. It turns out that she lives in the very same complex as my Aunt Sharon! When we discovered this, she put together this amazing gift basket and brought it over to my Aunt Sharon that day! (I now understand that there is a tea party (COVID appropriate or post-COVID) being planned.)

I understand from at least one source that the tea they tried from this collection was fantastic. I am hoping we will hear from more folks about these teas as they try them.

I should note that a few folks also got another creation from Drink Our Hi-G--namely, bath salts made with bits of tea. We have a bit lying in wait to be used ourselves and will perhaps update this with more after we've had a chance to check those out.
